Our Hotel

We looked at a few hotels when thinking where we would like to stay after our wedding as our venue doesn't give us this option.  I also toyed with the idea of coming back home to our own bed but decided it would be nice to spend as much time as possible with our guests.  As they are all travelling so far to join us it would be nice if we can enjoy breakfast with them the day after the wedding if they stay at the same hotel.

We ended up deciding on Grand Central Hotel which is situated right in the centre of the city at Central Station which also makes it ideal for those who might be travelling here by train.  We chose the Grand Central Hotel as it has recently had a £20 million refurbishment but has a long history and is a stunning building.  They have renovated the inside in a modern way and the rooms are very well decorated.   They have also given us a preferential rate for guests to book as we have reserved so many rooms, they even gave us a free upgrade to an executive suite for the night of the wedding.

They also have good reviews for the breakfasts with eggs made fresh to order how you like them and the Champagne bar overlooking the station is a great place to unwind with a drink and watch the goings on below.

I have also decided to make some 'Wedding Survival Packs' for all our guests staying in the hotel and after reading some reviews on trip advisor which mainly praise the hotel but have mentioned noise outside being a bit of an issue, I will be including some earplugs in each bag.  I also plan to include a welcome letter, a 'Glasgow Slang Translation Guide', a map of Glasgow and some suggested sights, mints, a bottle of water, some painkillers, a toothbrush and a can of Irn Bru with a post it stating 'This is a Scottish Hangover Cure'.  :)

How thoughtful of you to personally pack a hotel kit for all of the guests. That hangover cure is a smart idea. They could drink all night without worrying of headache because of that. LOL!
